Greetings from gods country!
I see you are enjoying yourself mr meakin!. Apoligies for not seeing you off but was on holiday at the time. I have meant to e-mail you on several occasions but someone left me all these bridges to look after and have been busy trying to become tony mark II ;o). Me and the wife had our honeymoon in maderia and loved it, wish id come with you now as i seem to remember the wine was as tasty as the local ladies. Did you get to have a sled ride down the very steep hill? pointless but fun i thought, wife didnt like it at all though. The gangers were asking how you were getting on so ive given them your website addy and that prompted me to finally send some mail! Happy sailing and i will have a pint of london pride for you in about 5 minutes time when i get to the pub.
Cheers
Rob

Jim
Re-booting has done it. I just find it difficult to remember to take noon sights when on land especialy as noon GMT is about 2 PM local time so I have yet to try a full sight reduction. Yesterday went up to the top of the Island and inspected the Issac Newton telscope, they also have a The Majic telescope which is looking for naturaly occuring gamma (may have the wrong Greek symbol) particals dicovered by the CERN accelerator. The Volcanic Crator is awsome. Thanks for the help Jim.

Martin,
The photo oppertunities here are endless, with Pine forests one minute and Bannans and Cactus the next. Then theres the volcanoes, cloud, sea and some nice old buildings in town.

Matt,
I have had all the old photos deleated from the camera the first download in Portugal was just a trial. Have you Anna and Charlotte moved into the new house?
Tony.

Good to hear from you the other day.  Did rebooting the Ipaq sort out the problem with your software or do you still have problems?

Bruce & Wendy I am not shore about the tiller handle it may need modifying or even a different one made here. It´s best to make the 2 items with no morticing (as it reduces strength) and let me drill and fix the grip over here. After all there is a work bench and 240v generator in the boat. Ricky will be bringing out some Gurilla glue just in case the old stuff has gone off.

Ann I havent seen a nut seller but the band are there and I spent an hour listening to them 3 nights ago. Tell paul the golf course is realy good and will still be perfect in November this should enable you to come and check for yourself.

Keith I flew my spinnaker for 5 hours between Portugal and Porto Santo and I didn´t drop it in the water so there.

Is the Chestnut seller still there by the pier.  It's the one that looks just like Roger? Are the South American inidans still singing on the waterfront above the harbour restuarants?

Dear Tony,
Hope you are well & not too sunburned! (we'll send you some goose grease!
Message from Peter re: tiller:-

1. Would you like the hand grip screwed directly to top of tiller, or,
2. Hand grip half-lapped to top of tiller then screwed by
  yourself on site, or,
3. Hand grip morticed through centre of tiller then screwed &
  bolted on site.
We're watching your site & plotting your course with great interest. Have you seen any mermaids yet? & how's your crabs?(from Bruce).
Open day (at) Spence Airfield Mon. 30th. Aug. we will be pleased if you can make it! Love & best wishes from Peter, Bruce & Wendy. XXX.

I have only just started out so it will only be "CARIAD" Newport 2004

Posted by Peter France on Thursday, August 26, 2004
It all seems to be going well. I hope you'll find time to paint something appropriate on the harbour wall in Madiera for us to look for PF

I am moored up alongside the wall 30 metres from the Yacht marina starboard (right going so its the green)side, second boat out as we are rafted up three boats at this time. The boat nearest the cam is yellow and the "Cariad" will have a pair of jeans hanging from the top of the mast later too day.

I received the postcards, thank you for remembering!  I am looking forward to making a big collection so keep them coming.  I havn't yet made the suggestion about fibre glass to the design team yet, not feeling very brave knowing absolutely nothing about ships or sailing for that matter so keep up with the dummies guide to sailing!  You'll be pleased to know the weather back home is absolutely rubbish with views from my office window looking more like an Amazonian Rainforest than an August Summers Day.  Take care an enjoyed the tinned curry, my housemates at Uni lived off it for three years and they are still drumming.  Thinking of you, Danielle xx

Hi Tony,
The web-cam is on top of the Marina Shopping Arcade, and pans around the harbour. It updates every 10 minutes. There is also a people cam somewhere in the town. There was an interesting article in the paper yesterday. In Salcombe there is a 20' x 10' concrete pad on the left as you enter from the sea I think with steps leading down from the cliffs. It is being sold if you're interested £75,000!!!!!!!

Hi Tony,

There are 14 cameras covering most of the harbour. When you're in an internet cafe have a look at the link in my message below. The cameras are all numbered. If it's possible to see Cariad tell us which camera it's on and whereabouts in the shot. All the best!
