Hi Tony, you don't know me yet, but I think you are about to soon. I am going out with your delightful brother Keith, I'm sure he will be introducing me to you in Trindad! We have been looking at your progress, Keith says 2 hulls are faster than 1! and more stable! He says he doesn't need a strap to tie me into the galley or a gimble cooker! However if I'm going to accompany Keith to Trindad I need you to be there on the right dates so I can book my holiday from work! So anchors away & get a move on! When we were down at the club, Jim said it only took him 12 days to cross the pond, Keith said he can do it in 8 with a cat (and me as motley crew)(Keith said the extra weight will add 2 days - Cheek!)As you have no phone we will monitor the website and hope to be in Tobago in mid January
All the best Keith & Pam
Hi Tony, just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed seeing you. We arrived back last Wednesday night and tans are starting disappear already. We were very impressed with Cariad (inside, outside and underneath!) and will get some photos scanned for Matt to add to the gallery. Jamie thoroughly enjoyed helping on the boat. It was great to see you looking fit and well and good to hear that you made it Cape Verde safely. Good luck getting across the big bit.
Ricky, Sue, Jamie & Jack.
ps Luckily, they don't sell Bitburger at the Til!
Sounds like you are missing the flying, day dreaming about the flying fish!. Not a lot going on at Shobdon at the moment, getting withdrawl symptoms, so volunteered to be a "course builder" for the World helicopter Championships (Kemble next Aug), part of this involved setting up a couple of tasks at Netheravon in howling gails and heavy rain, pegging out 15m by 2m banners so I know what its like!
At least you are now in better climes. all the best Steve T
well done Tony. You seem to be "flying" along. Not that you will be interested but Job Evaluation has been rejected by the members of the union that bothered to vote (about a third). So we could be out on strike. I don't think we will see any pickets in Ross though. They've finished Nursery Road at last. What a nightmare that was. Hope you have a good rest in preparation for the next leg.
Hi Tony, Peter K and I are sat in front of the screen on a wet november evening wishing we were somewhere sunnier too. Congratulations on reaching the tropics. Down the till last night there was "Butty Bach " on and v good it was too. Peter says you just missed a good barrel of 6x.
Take care, will watch your progress.

Just to let you know I'm following your progress with great interest and wish you the very best of luck for crossing the pond.

I know what it`s like to be a flying fish, glad to see you are ok.
best wishes, Tucker
Sounds like you're having the same luck as Dr. Alain Bombard with the Canaries. This can only bode well!
John Davies,
you can contact Keith by writting to him at c/o Bristol Marina, Hanover Place, Bristol BS1 --- , I don,t have his phone No. with me just now.
Gill,
You have mastered commputers as well DC3,s, is there any limit to your talents (answers on post cards to PPS).
Ben,
Hope to cross Atlantic from Port O,Grande Mindalo, Cape Verde Islands starting about mid November and taking 20 days. There are some snags with weather caused by the water temprature being up to 4 degrees hotter this year than usual (thats what caused all the Cyclones)
Chris Evans (Tango X-ray)
Did you get to Shaffen Diest this year??? 44 FOX and G-BSVH had same exciting trips to that Belgium rally.
Tony, Are you the Tony Meakin from Shrewsbury with two brothers Keith and Ian,(mother and father Eric and Dora.?)
I was a pal of Keiths and have been trying to locate him I happened across your website so thought it worth a try.
I live near Newport in Magor so was interested to read about your trip setting off from Uskmouth. I have just been reading a book about the 1997 BOC round the world race and another called Breath of Angels about a single handed atlantic crossing so hope I will be reading about your trip oneday.
I hope that you are the brother of the Keith that I knew and that you can either put me in touch or pass him my e mail address jad.davies (at) btinternet .com Cheers
Hi Tony, Good to read about your progess so far. How long does it take to cross the Atlantic approximately or is that a "piece of string" question?
Good on ya Meakin! I had to learn to use one of these damn computor things to see how you were doing! What happens if she goes into fine pitch, or you get some "mag-drop"? Seereeusley, Good Luck, Fine seas, & a fair wind.I shall be watching!
Matt Brown,
I miss friends etc. the beer here is often served in iced glasses but as the temprature is between 25 & 30 I can suffer it very easily.
On Monday I will set off for Corallegeo on Fuente Ventura (120 miles) then fairly soon on to the Cape Verde Islands. The Canaries are filling with Yachts all getting ready to cross the Atlantic, most of the English boats are at Gran Cannary for the Arc Race which startes on 20th November. I will leave Cape verde about the same time.
Tinned veg. is difficult to get here but Ivé still got stocks from that trip to Booker. Yesterday a cruise ship (the Aurara) came into Tenerife and I asked the name of the ship from a couple who had quite white faces and would you believe it they were from Hereford. Tell Steve the couple on the boat next to me are Swiss and the lady is able to carry out every job on there boat etc. I will ask if the husband has been in the Swiss Army?
Well must go and finnish getting the boat ready for sea.
Tony
So then Tony, how's life living away from England? Is there any creature comforts that you miss, such as marmalade or marmite(or proper beer)? I've given Ricky your registration certificate to bring out with him. Also were there anymore photos on that cd you wanted put onto the website? I did ask Martin to scan that postcard but unfortunately he didn't do it before he left, I will try to get him to do it soon though. Also I don't think your current position is on the map. Good luck on the next leg.
