There is broad band here and the connections are as good as English cities so it shouldn't take for ever.

Todd,
You have been living life on the line good luck at Bundaburg and if you meet Richard Clifford (he has a duck egg blue 35 foot slop) who said he would stop at Burnett heads boat yard ask him what he would have done in your situation as. He writes artticals on anchoring for Adard Coles "Heavey Weather Sailing".

Hi Tony,

Uploading photos is much slower than downloading them, so you need a very good connection - I don't know how it is in that part of the world!  Ideally each picture should be no bigger than the screen so reduce the file size.

I will do some work on the site and make sure the uploading is as robust as possible.

Read through all your reports… Very good information… Thanks!  As you may know by now, I am a season behind you with Salmonberry on the hard, for what I can put together for a refit, or revamp, so to speak, so I may continue a little more prepared on the next leg of the trip. Salmonberry landed on the rocks in a gale, this was the four time for me, in all these years while sailing without an engine! Although, again I am able to say that it was not pilot error… It was at forty-knots when I turned hard into the wind, and through the leads, at 1 in the morning to drop the hook- it stuck! While preparing another anchor, for insurance, ten minutes later, I broke free and landed perfectly in the middle of a boat ramp, dead on high tide! When I pulled up the hook up, I found a rock lodge perfectly in the claw of my Bruce. No damage! Just another valuable lesson. 1 out of 4 (may be one could be diputed, as error or equipment failure, mostly error)in 7 years not bad for not having an engine, but it does make me think… What If? Cheers Tony, All the best, your friend, Todd

The fish just love your music your CD "This is what we do" has caugh me loads of Tuna and is an indispensable part of my ipod. Have you done another CD in the last 3 years??? as I need to catch different fish. What about a boogie woogy CD bassed around the Fats Walla numbers he never recorded. He was always surounded by Sharks so I may catch some big fish.

Hi Tony  -  was speaking with Steve(SH golf club) and he told me about your sailing adventures and gave me the web site. Amazing, particularly as I only sail in the Greek Islands ( no tides and gentle winds). Steve says hi and suggests we meet up at Hostelrie on your return.

Hello Tony,
Hope all's well with you, very impressed with your adventure - I always knew you were completely bonkers! Have heard of a reported sighting of you in The Hosteltrie not so long ago, or was it a hologram?
Still battering the ivories, spending most time at sea (all?).
Keep well, send me a mermaid!
Best wishes, Simon

Hey there Tony - Good to hear you and Cariad have made it to Darwin.  As you may or may not remember - I was scheduled to arrive in Bundaberg in June on Evening Star (the trimaran next to m/v Curly). We departed on a Friday (never depart on a friday). Roughly 150nm off the New Cal coast the forestay chainplate decided to fracture.  A clean fracture I might add.  With that we nearly lost our mast and totally lost the roller furling unit as it was flying out of control like a lose spinaker.  Couldn't get the sail off the forstay because it was fouled in the extrusion.  Needless to say we had to make an emergency stop in Noumea.  Kept the mast up but had to get a brand new furler, chainplate, and stay.  We were stuck there for nearly a month.  The boat's finally now in Bundy.  As for me - I'm in Hawaii seeking further university studies and living the good life on the weekends/sailing in the local events.    If you should decide once you round the Cape of Good Hope not to turn right, but to keep on going - I'm here in Honolulu and could help you get a berth in Waikiki.  All the best and careful crossing the street, automobile bumpers are just not built well these days, as you already know!

Pam & Keith
Thanks I will try that on the photos. Having major problems with getting clearance for Cariad into Indonesia and may have it go straight to Singapore 2,000 miles or Christmass Island 1,500 as the Monsoon is only 7 weeks away. Keep going south but I will not get to the Caribean next year due to the delays here. Watch out for U boats at Loriante. Could you let me have your email address as I have some confidential information to pass to you.

Hi Tony, we managed to miss the Petit Pot de Buerre okay and moored up next to Cariad of Barry! Keith went to speak with the skipper to find he had a picture from a yachting magazine on board from May 2004, clearly showing you and Keith on the coach roof. We took a photo copy and will get it to you sometime. We have now moved down to Lorient and enjoying this boating way of life immensly. We are able to load our pictures up onto our website by resizing through Coral Paintshop, crunch to 150 picture size & 96% resolution and it seems to work very well. Keep on trucking & mind out for the kangaroos
