Dave Howell,
Have found the problem with the anchor locker. Sadlers do not glass the bulkhead in solid as this could cause major structural problems especialy in a head on ramming (tee bone), so it's sealed with sealant which I am raking out and resealing even as I type (assuming the lad working for me is on the case). The frame we fitted at Uskmouth has performed as designed, I tend to sail with less canves up than I used so as to give me and Cariad an easier time as well. Give my regads to all at the club and hope to see you all next year.

Pleased to hear of your safe arrival in S. Africa, though that beat into the waves, filling the anchor locker sounds scary. Pity the locker couldn't be filled with foam!
Keep the stories coming & look forward to your return/next visit to NUSC.

James,
I was so busy that I didn't think about anything but solving the problem and getting out of Mosambque before the tide also turned against me.

Todd,
I'll try to get the photo to you I'm not good with attachments.

Hey Tony - Congrats on getting to Africa.  Those waves filling the anchor locker sounded pretty scary.

Reached Richards Bay on Tuesday 23rd. South Africa is very good so far, real civilization but it's a bit cold. How ever the Zululand Yacht club has hot showers, there's lovely.

Hello Tony, See you are having a great time and keeping busy, we are in Denmark and have 50 miles left for Sweden, we still have the mast lying down so we are waiting for calm weather to do the last leg. All is good here, just cold but we have the heater on so it is nice Caribbean temp, take care, Vidya and Kenneth

Rosa B.
My email was yachtcariad (at) yahoo.com but I think yahoo have changed it to yachtcariad (at) yahoo.co.uk try both. Please please sent me a picture of Roy and Finnese as I am beginning to loose the memory of a very good friend, I fear is not going to turn up with memory loss as I at first hoped would hapen.

Hi Tony - Your trip looks wonderful. I sailed with Roy McKibbin in Jan'02 and have a great photo of him on board Finesse. I don't seem to be able to copy it onto this message - it's only 72Kb. Do you have an email address that I can send it to? He wouldn't approve of course, of being portrayed as a pin up. My husband and I were at his 2nd Wake, back here in Quoile YC, Strangford Lough.

Glad to hear we're not the only ones enjoying 30+c of heat. No flooding here! We're still in Portugal after our epic journey to Copenhagen to my son's wedding, where he lives. A guy visited us saying that he was going to buy 2EZ 2 years ago but we had outbid him. Later he asked us if we wanted his berth as he was leaving for the UK and he was paid up to 18/8 and couldn't get a refund. So of course we said yes! We'll take a trip to Cadiz and perhaps a ferry trip to Morocco for a few days, then take the boat up the river to Seville and Up the Guardiana on our return to Portimao for winter. Next year our sail plan should take us to Italy as my other son plans to marry there. At this rate we are likely to meet in the middle somewhere.Have you checked our web pictures, www.meakintwoeasy.org.uk

To All,
I am having a quiet time in Rusian Bay, Madagascar and saving money after the expensive refit in Thialand. So as I dont have to be in South Africa until October this is a good place to stay. With good company and an old wooden Waren Catamaran to work on. Hope none of you have sufered to much in the flooding weather here is perfect 30 C day and 25 at night.

Hello Tony, Read your report and congrats on your trip. We are in Port St.Louis in France and have the mast lying down on the boat so now we are a power boat and will start the canals soon, we have crossed our line so now we can say we have sailed around the world. Take care and will keep in touch, hugs Vidya and Kenneth

Nueng and Charlie,
Glad you are all OK repaires are going well will move the boat to a quieter anchorage at Crater Bay today.
Madagascar is a very different place from Thailand and Seychelles etc. Its a country that is quietly sliding backwards as the infrastructure put in 1950s falls apart. Its very hard for the locals who are very nice people.
